  • Responsibilities

    The Senior Valuation and Environmental Risk Manager is responsible for the management of all United Bank Valuation and Environmental activities for real estate lending, their related policy, business continuity and the Bank’s real estate lending regulatory compliance.




    • Works with Chief Risk Officer to execute, maintain, update and enforce bank-wide Valuation and Environmental Policy.
    • Responsible for Valuation and Environmental Report Reviews and ensures adherence to established regulatory requirements and Bank policies.
    • Develop Valuation and Environmental strategies, procedures and ongoing management of the Valuation and Environmental Risk Management Department.
    • Responsible for Valuation and Environmental Vendor Management, including maintaining the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) files for all real estate valuation, environmental, and equipment appraisal firms.
    • Approves and maintains all real estate resources utilized by the Bank relative to Valuation and Environmental Risk Management.
    • Responsible for the RIMS Online Valuation and Environmental Management System.
    • Supervises Product Specialists who, in turn, serve as Departmental Supervisors of the Job Manager staff in both the WV and VA groups.
    • Reviews loan officers’ service requests and approves the appropriate valuation and environmental strategy, which is then distributed to the appropriate approved vendor firms per the scope of work defined.
    • Responsible for Valuation and Environmental vendor selection, job management, proper engagement and resolution of problem situations.
    • Researches discrepancies and works with vendor to resolve any problems (if applicable).
    • Completes special projects and all other duties as required


    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in real estate valuation of all property types, including investment properties required
    • Minimum of three (3) years of prior experience managing and leading staff
    • Must demonstrate competent working knowledge of environmental due diligence, assessment and remediation tools as well as environmental risk management principles and strategies.
    • Detailed Knowledge of
    • Regulatory Compliance Requirements for Valuation and Environmental Risk Management. 
    • Real estate market analysis and economic feasibility.
    • Previous experience working for a financial Institution required (preferably of comparable size to United Bank)
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
    • Demonstrated high attention to detail, accuracy and quality

    Essential Functions:

    • Sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Sufficient dexterity of hands and fingers to efficiently operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
    • Ability to converse and exchange information with all levels of staff within organization.
    • Ability to observe, perceive, identify, and translate data
    • Ability to travel via air, rail, automobile and/or bus
    • May be required to drive between 500 – 1,500 miles per month within an 8-hour radius of the primary office location.
